Elmira Pioneers Announce 2017 Coaching Staff

Elmira, N.Y. — The Elmira Pioneers have finalized the coaching staff for the 2017 season. For the upcoming campaign, Brian Hill will take the reins as manager after former manager Matt Burch stepped down. Hill, an assistant coach the past four years under Burch, will get his first opportunity to take the reins of a team in the PGCBL. Concerning the new position, Hill stated, “I am very excited about the opportunity to manage the Elmira Pioneers. Elmira has a tremendous baseball tradition and is the best place in the country to coach summer baseball.” In addition to his managerial duties, Hill will also man the 3rd base coaches’ box and work with pitchers.

Last summer, Jellinek interned with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters of the Northwoods League. There Jellinek was the director and producer of all 36 of the team’s webcasts, hosted the team’s highlight show, Rafters Roundup, and co-hosted both Rafters Pregame and Rafters postgame on WFHR 1320.

The Pioneers followed up their strong play on the field to lead the PGCBL in attendance, averaging 3,000 fans per game. That tremendous turnout allowed the Pioneers to place second in overall average attendance of all Collegiate Baseball teams in the country.

The 2015 promotions schedule will feature a promotion or giveaway for each home game and is highlighted by the six post-game fireworks shows. The fireworks will kick off following both games on opening weekend Friday June 5th and Saturday June 6th. Fans will also be able to enjoy post game fireworks on Saturday June 27th and at the first game of the Pioneers USA Home-Stand on Thursday July 2nd as well as Saturday July 18th and on the final home game of the regular season Thursday July 30th.

Earl Weaver managed the Pioneers from 1962 through 1965 putting together a 313-245 record over the course of 4 seasons. The PGCBL is a relatively new, yet not new league that attracts elite college baseball players to their respective communities each summer. I have divided this list into three tiers. The Monarchs are in their first season as members of Conference USA and currently have an overall record of 25-16. The freshman trio are teammates at ODU with former Pioneers Tommy Alexander (P), Brian Bashara (INF) and Victor Diaz (P) who were members of the 2013 West Division Championship team.

Elmira, NY – With the beginning of the 2014 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League just over a month away, the Elmira Pioneers are proud to announce the promotions schedule for all 27 regular season home games at Historic Dunn Field. The 2014 promotions schedule will feature a promotion or giveaway for each home game and is highlighted by the six post-game fireworks shows. The fireworks will begin following both games on opening weekend Friday June 6th and Saturday June 7th. Fans will also be able to enjoy post game fireworks on Friday June 20th and at the first game of the Pioneers USA Home-Stand on Thursday July 3rd as well as the 2014 PGCBL All-Star Game on Tuesday July 15th, and on Thursday July 24th.

Kurt made his way to Elmira Wednesday night and quickly made his way into the lineup with his brother's spot in the rotation coming up.
