With All Star Break Looming Pios Fall Again 8-3

Elmira took their first trip to Utica this season to visit the second place team in the West looking to snap a five game losing streak. Despite this the Pioneers are still in a position to challenge for a playoff spot, but with games running out and the two day all star break looming the pressure is on to close the gap.

Before the game Coach Matt Burch said that the Pioneers had done a lot of things right over the losing streak however everything had not worked at once. This was almost eerily predictive as the Pios came out and after giving up four runs in the bottom of the first would continue to battle at the plate securing themselves double digit hits, but only able to scratch across three runs. The Blue Sox took advantage of some poor fielding and put across another four runs.

Brendan Koester made the start but was only able to work three innings before a collective bullpen effort got the Pios through the evening. The Pioneers will be back in action today at 4:05 pm as they take on the Watertown Rapids at historic Dunn Field in the final outing before the all star break! Get your tickets now 607 734 2690!
