Three More Join Pios

The Pioneers season continues to creep closer and the roster is almost complete. Today the Pioneers are proud to announce three more additions to their roster as Pitcher Nathan Peng from University of California Davis, Pitcher Connor Takacs from University of Albany, and Infielder Brody Moore from Auburn all make their way to Dunn Field.


Peng is a 6’1 freshman pitcher from UC Davis by way of Saratoga, CA. Nathan was a Dual-sport athlete for Saratoga High School where he was the Underclassman of the Year recipient in 2016. Peng also garnered all-league accolades as a sophomore and junior and was voted MVP by his teammates in 2017. Nathan averaged .524 at the plate with 12 home runs, 10 doubles, two triples, and 40 RBIs as a senior. Peng was the Recipient of the President’s Award as he garnered a 3.7 GPA during his high school academic career.


Takacs is a 6’2, 185 lbs sophomore pitcher from the University of Albany by way of Jackson, NJ. Connor has had a great 2019 going 4-0 on the season at Albany. Takacs pitched well in his freshman year as well multiple times pitching multiple shutout innings and making 16 appearances. Connor was a four-year letter winner in baseball at Jackson Memorial as well as lettering two years in basketball and one year in football and was the team captain as a senior. Takacs was named 2017 All-Shore Primer Class A-South, is the 10th-ranked lefty in New Jersey in 2017 and in the top-300 lefty in the country in 2017. Connor was selected for the Shore Baseball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Game in 2017 and was a member of 2017 Ocean Country Championship team.



Moore is a 6’0, 185 lbs freshman infielder from Auburn University by way of Oneonta, AL. Brody Played at Oneonta (Ala.) High School for his dad, Brandon Moore where he was rated the fourth best shortstop and 31th best player in Alabama by Perfect Game and also tabbed a top 500 player in the class of 2018. Moore hit .577 with 71 hits and 30 RBI and made AL.com's 2018 Super All-State Team as a utility player. Brody was also two-time Honorable Mention All-State honoree by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, was a 2018 Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American, one of nine Alabamians named to Collegiate Baseball High School All-American Team, was a member of the North Team in the 2017 Alabama High School All-Star Games and was also selected to the 2017 Alabama Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Team.



“Going out this offseason we were looking to build a championship caliber team and with additions like Nathan, Connor, and Brody we feel like we have the chance to bring a championship to Elmira.” Coach Matt Burch said.
