Pios Win Streak Snapped at 5, Lose 3-0

The Pioneers continued their dominant stretch last night at home versus the ultra-competitive Jamestown Tarp Skunks by snagging a 5-2 victory on Enforcers night. June continues to serve as a tough month as Elmira has trucked on with no off days, but had somehow continued the winning streak.

Andrew Drum looked to Cam Hill who was recently named PGCBL Player Of The Week to put his touch on a game where the Pios were set to face the Tarp Skunks ace Jack Laird.

Tonight's game began slow as both Hill and Laird looked very sharp on the mound over the first five innings, trading a couple three up three downs, and seeing little to no base traffic.

In the home half of the sixth, a leadoff 2-1 roundtripper by Jamestown's Justin Bowers ultimately served as the difference. The homer gave the Tarp Skunks a 1-0 advantage and forced Cam Hill off the hill at the end of the frame. Two more runs saw to the board in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a couple singles and an error and the Tarp Skunks claimed victory 3-0.

The Pioneers are back in action tomorrow night at historic Dunn Field at 7:05pm vs the rival Geneva Red WIngs. Stop on down or call 607-734-2690 for tickets and see your 2021 Elmira Pioneers in action.
