Pios Move into First in the West, 5-2 over Jamestown

The Pioneers stole a big 10-5 game away from the Niagara Power last night at Sal Maglie Stadium and came back to Dunn Field for another quick turnaround. The promotions this week have been huge, and tonight was no different with it being Elmira Enforcers night showing off the cities FPHL squad.

Elmira handed the ball to Nate Scott looking for a few good innings as the bullpen has been worked very hard the last few days despite the win streak, and Jamestown flipped the deed to Ryan Bradarich.

The Tarp Skunks got a good jump start in the Top of the 1st as a pair of errors by Aaron Thomas and a 1-1 single by Danny Hosley helped them to a quick 2-0 advantage.

The Dunn Field faithful were loud in the bottom of the 2nd when three straight singles led Bobby Marsh around to score on a South Trimble one-baser. It cut the score to just 2-1 in favor of Jamestown.

The third continued the hit trail as Donovan Montgomery led it off with a single, held at third on a Cam Hill double, and came in on a Ben Schorr sac fly to center to tie it up. Marsh picked up a big single to drive in Cam Hill before another Trimble RBI hit led the Pios out to a 4-2 lead.

Elmira added another in the fourth but it would only plate the total. Jeff Mejia crossed home on a Hill single and 5-2 was how the score held to the end.

The two teams wrap up a home-and-home tomorrow at Russell E Dietrich Park beginning at 7:05pm before the Pios are back at Dunn Field Saturday at 7:05pm to take on the Geneva Red Wings. Catch all the action on YouTube and Mixlr and get your weekend tickets by calling 607 734 7825!
