Pioneers Unsuccessful in First Meeting with Jamestown
By Anthony La Bonté
ELMIRA,NY—The Jamestown Tarp Skunks would score 16 runs in the first four innings
against the Elmira Pioneers to win 18-7 in the two sides inaugural meeting Sunday at
Historic Dunn Field.
20 hits would get secured by Jamestown, alongside three errors by the Pioneers, that
allowed for the eleven-run victory.
Lukas Rylander (0-1) took the starting role through three before being pulled with seven
runs scored. Thomas Cheplick, Liam Shaut, and Ryan Kristof would all split to finish the
final innings.
Elmira would have multi-hit days by Manny Essley, Trevor Reed, and Tysan Gingerich
to get to eleven hits on the day. However, all seven runs only game in innings four five
and six.
Game two of the doubleheader was postponed due to rain.
The Pioneers fall to 12-13, the first time below .500 since June 7 where they lost to the
Niagara Ironbacks. The Pioneers look to correct the ship when they travel to Olean
Wednesday, July 8, for a game with the Oilers. Thursday is the next home game, with a
contest against the Newark Pilots for “Free T-Shirt Night”. For ticket information call
