Pioneers Roster Continues to Take Shape

The Pioneers season is almost upon us and as it approaches the Pioneers are rounding out their roster. Today the Pioneers add Pitcher Andrew Riddick from Virginia State, Utility Man Jalon Long and Infielder Preston Moore from Samford, and Ben Terwiliger from University of Maine.


Riddick is a 6’4, 197 lbs freshman pitcher from Virginia State University by way of Suffolk, VA. Andrew was a redshirt this year, but previous was an All Tournament Team member in 2017. Riddick did pitch seven times this season accumulating 32 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched.


Long is a 5’11, 180 lbs freshman utility player as well as a pitcher from Stamford College by way of Montgomery, AL. Jalon is a seven time All-Tournament Team selection, a Perfect Game Super 25 Champion, a Showcase Top Prospect List member, a Top 500 rank, and a three time Preseason All American. Long focused mostly on pitching this season and ended the year with a 3-1 record including a save.


Moore is a 6’0, 185 lbs freshman infielder from Samford College by way of Hoover,AL. Preston has had an impressive freshman year starting 47 times turning 8 double plays and with a fielding percentage above .875. At the plate Moore has turned heads as well with 37 hits including two home runs and fourteen doubles as well as fifteen walks he brings a lot to the table this summer.


Terwiliger is a 6’3, 225 lbs sophomore infielder/pitcher from Maine by way of Elmira, NY. Ben attended Corning Pained Post High School where as a senior, he batted .420 with 21 RBIs and three home runs. Terwiliger was named third-team all-state in 2017 and was an all-conference selection in 2016. Also, in 2016, Ben helped the team to the Section 4 championship, a regional finalist and finished ninth in the state. Terwiliger played in the PGCBL Prospect Game as a senior and was also the Section 4 champion in badminton in 2016 and 2017, also competing in soccer, basketball and indoor track, and was a member of the National Honor Society


“As we continue to build a championship caliber squad we have continued to find more and more talent throughout the Collegiate leagues. We know Andrew, Jalon, Preston, and Ben are all strong players and will be strong pieces to the roster this season.” Coach Matt Burch said.
