Pioneers Preparing for Season With Hot Stove Dinner

The Elmira Pioneers will be hosting their 6th Annual Hot Stove Dinner at the Holiday Inn in Elmira, NY with special guest speaker, Former New York Yankee, Bucky Dent. The event will be held on Thursday, April 23rd.

The 6th Annual Hot stove dinner is the kick off for the Elmira Pioneers season letting fans know that the Elmira Pioneers are getting ready for their 132nd season of baseball in the Twin Tiers.

Bucky Dent played 12 major league seasons with the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, and Kansas City Royals  before managing the New York Yankees for two seasons from 1989-1990. During his career Bucky was a three time All Star, a two time World Series Champion, and a World Series MVP.

Dent is most widely remembered for hitting a three run home run that gave the Yankees the win over the Boston Red Sox in the 1978 AL East Division tie breaker game. Possibly more remarkable than that was that this home run was one of only 40 he hit in his twelve year career.

After Bucky managed the Yankees he went on to work on the staff of the St Louis Cardinals under Joe Torre from 1991-1994 before moving on to the staff of his former team the Texas Rangers from 1995-2001. Dent was also the bench coach for the Cincinnati Reds from 2005-2007.
