Pioneers Losing Skid To Two After 15-2 Loss

Elmira came into Monday night's game against Adirondack looking to rebound from a loss the night before to the Newark Pilots. The Pioneers had a 2-1 record as the TrailBlazers had yet to win a game. Elmira's first two games at home had gone to plan as they claimed victory in both, but the road has not been an easy place to play for the Pios so far.

Neftaly Severino Cronier came into the game, his first with the Pioneers, and quickly dispatched the first inning. Cronier showed masterful control of the corners and was able to stop any signs of offense dead in its tracks in the first inning. This gave Elmira the chance to tally the first run of the game in the second inning, as Trae Harmon walked and Kyle Richardson drove him in with a double to right center.

Unfortunately the bottom of the second proved to be far less friendly to Cronier as he would surrender 5 runs all while having two outs. Though a couple of defensive plays that could have been made stood out no one was able to make the third out.

The next inning continued to see trouble as the first home run Elmira has seen this season was blasted by Adirondack's Jarrett Hall. The TrailBlazers continued to jump on the Pioneers putting up nine runs against Severino Cronier before he was lifted for Charles Lefebvre. Lefebvre came in and got the final out in the fifth, but saw some trouble of his own in the sixth giving up two more runs.

The Pioneers found the bats again in the top of the seventh as Ben Terwilliger came into the game and was able to bring home Zac Granger on a play counted as an error, but in the bottom half the TrailBlazers made up for giving up the run with three more of their own.

The eighth inning saw Trae Harmon leave first base and take a turn on the mound as he pitched the full eighth breaking up Elmira's 2 pitcher per game rule through three games. Harmon gave up one run, but was otherwise effective.

The Pioneers finish their three game road trip tonight in Geneva beginning at 7:05 pm which will be streamed live on Youtube and Mixlr.com before coming home for tomorrow afternoon's career fair where you can earn 2 free tickets to the game just for having a resume on hand!
