Pioneers End Skid, Win 5-2

The Pioneers came out in the final game of a three game home stand and showed the grit and determination fans were looking for and came away with a win. Elmira had been on a five game losing streak, but with the victory will embark on another long string of road games with some positivity and hopefully climb themselves back to .500 before returning home to Dunn Field on Thursday.

Elmira threw Ben Terwilliger out on the hill for his second appearance of the season and despite some early control issues, Terwilliger worked his way through the first three innings. The fourth was a little harder as Ty Syta led things off with a single, but Ben came back with two strong outs before Syta would finally cross home plate on a David Bermudez single.

Falling behind was a sore spot for the young Pios offense this season, but would not be the case last night as the Pioneers put up a two spot in the bottom of the fourth, a run in the fifth, and another two spot in the sixth. Preston Moore, Trevor Henneman, and Bryce Moskiewicz all got in on the RBI's and a past ball led the Elmira to a 5-2 lead.

Despite quality pitching from Terwilliger and three strong innings from Connor Takacs the Pioneers broke their two pitcher per game strategy again, this time bringing in Neftaly Severino Cronier who came in and pitched a perfect eight and a nail biting ninth to ensure the victory for the Pioneers and a save for himself, his first of the season.
