Pioneers Drop Second Game of Season Series Against Batavia Muckdogs

BATAVIA, NY—The Elmira Pioneers scored one run in the third inning to tie the game on Saturday, however, would not be able to get a man across before getting run-ruled by the Batavia Muckdogs in the seventh inning, 12-1.

That single run would come from a sacrifice fly off the bat of Manny Essley, allowing Ryan Jones to make the 90 foot trek from third to home. But four consecutive scoring innings for the Muckdogs, including a two-run walk off home run by Jacob Vecsko to shoot off the post-game fireworks.

Lucas Hail would be chalked for the loss, after allowing three earned runs, three hits and three walks through four innings. Jones was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits, knocking a pair of singles. Aubrey Peterson hit a double that set Jones up for the run to avoid the shutout.
