PIONEERS BEAT OILERS OFF THE BACK OF SPANER’S BAT

OLEAN, NY—Two extra base hits alongside two RBIs from Nick Spaner led the Pioneers to a 4-2 victory against the Olean Oilers Wednesday, at Bradner Stadium.

Spaner’s two hits went for a one run triple in the first inning, and a one run double in the third inning: scoring Caleb Delaney in both instances. The other two runs came off of a Manny Castro first inning single, and Tyler Adamo’s ninth inning triple.

Lucas Hail was on the mound for the Pioneers where he threw his first quality start this season, with six innings thrown, eight strikeouts and two earned runs which gave him his first winning decision on the season.

Lukas Rylander would clean for two innings with two hits and two walks coming through. Then Sam Watts picked up his second save on the season when he retrieved the three outs through four batters in the ninth inning.
