PIONEERS ANNOUNCE FIRST 10 PLAYER SIGNINGS FOR 2026

The Elmira Pioneers have officially signed 10 players of their 2026 Roster. Alex Davis, 3B (Penn State Harrisburg), Andrew Smith RHP (Manhattan University), Aubrey Wells-Peterson, OF (New Mexico Junior College), 3rd season returner Brandon Doubek, C (Lafayette), Buzz Gresh, C (Rowan College of New Jersey) Hugh Cyhowski, RHP (Roger Williams University), Jack Aylward, 1B (Northern Essex Community College), Jack Tubman, INF (Roger Williams University), Mansfield Pennsylvania native Liam Shaut OF/RHP (SUNY Corning), & Lucas Hail, RHP (University of Kentucky) will call Dunn Field home this summer.

Alex Davis heads into the PGCBL after playing in NYCL last season. Davis is a rising sophomore from Penn State Harrisburg, where he played third base. Davis’s frame at 6’1” and 195 pounds gives him the edge on the defensive side where he has a perfect fielding percentage. On the basepath he can become a threat; last summer, he stole eight total bases.

Andrew Smith is a 6’3” right-handed pitcher who will be seeing his first collegiate action this summer with the Elmira Pioneers. Ranked as the seventh best right-handed prospect in New York, Smith committed to play for the Manhattan University Jaspers. Within his arsenal sees a fastball that can get north of 90 MPH with a high spin rate that will make him a key arm in the rotation.

Aubrey Wells Peterson is a 5’11”, 220-pound outfielder that is completing his first season for the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds. Originally coming out of Arlington, Texas, Peterson began his collegiate career attending Sul Ross State before moving to the Thunderbirds. In his first year he has appeared in three games, including a two RBI game against Clarendon College on April 18th.

Brandon Doubek returns for a third season with the Elmira Pioneers. The 6’0”, 205-pound catcher from Maplewood, NJ, has been a key contributor to his collegiate squad, the Lafayette Leopards. Through 106 at-bats he hit for an average of .302 alongside an OPS of .926. Doubek is tied for first place in homeruns on the Leopards with seven home runs. Defensively, he has been a master behind the plate with a fielding percentage of 98.2%.

Buzz Gresh is a 5’9” 175-pound catcher who comes to Elmira after a season with the Rowan College of New Jersey Road Runners. A player who refuses to be outworked and records a pop time near 1.903 seconds.

Hugh Cyhowski enters the Elmira Pioneers after his sophomore season of relief pitching for the Roger Williams University Hawks. The right-hander checks in at 6’5” and is from Erving, Massachusetts. With Roger Williams, this season, he has recorded a 3.86 ERA.

Jack Aylward is a 6’2” 235-pound first baseman who has used his sophomore year at Northern Essex Community College to become one of the most dominant batters in the NJCAA. His batting average, with Northern Essex, sits at .382, while his OPS reaches 1.187. Aylward has hit three homeruns while leading the team with 29 RBI in the 2025-2026 campaign.

Jack Tubman is a 6’2” infielder that joins the Pioneers following his junior season with Roger Williams University. Originally from Bellingham, MA, Tubman played travel ball for Garciaparra Baseball Group (GBG), which is owned by former MLB first round pick Michael Garciaparra, before becoming joining the Roger Williams Hawk. In the 2026 campaign, he has slugged four homeruns, alongside 27 RBI. Defensively, Tubman has also held firm with a fielding percentage of 95.3%.

Liam Shaut is a 5’11”, 160-pounds, two-way player that began his freshman season this spring with SUNY Corning. As a batter, he picked up his first hit in March, with an RBI double against WVU Potomac State College. As a pitcher, Shaut has entered in relief situations. Last summer, Shaut played for the Niagara Falls Americans where he acquired a .450 OBP.

Lucas Hail is a 5’10”, 175-pound right-handed pitcher, who is currently a freshman at the University of Kentucky. Hail was recruited as a top 20 prospect within the state of Kentucky. The four-pitch arsenal of Hail has given him much success, with his high school pitches finding his fastball consistently reaching up to 90 MPH.
