PIONEERS AND AMERICANS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER ONCE AGAIN

ELMIRA,NY—A day that saw 47 runs scored in total, and the Elmira Pioneers and Niagara Falls Americans return to their same win percentages when they split the doubleheader at Dunn Field.

The first game saw Mikey Geisler pitch his first contest of the season with four innings thrown that three runs scored in with Geisler striking out six. Kannon Van Duzer came in relief and earned the win in the 11-8 contest.

Both sides had ten hits in the game, with the Pioneers having four be extra basehits, including Ryan Gabianelli’s home run. Nick Spaner, Gabianelli, and Manny Castro would all have two RBI performances. Caleb Delaney went 3-3.

In Game two, a pair of grand slams by Logan Stickler of Niagara Falls provided them the 18-10 victory.

Manny Castro hit his first home run of the season, with an opposite field shot in the first inning to cut the lead down to be 5-3. Tyler Adamo would hit a double and triple—which Jalyn Tidwell also hit. The Pioneers had eight hits seven walks and six hit batters in the ball game.

Zachary Nelson pitched game two with five innings thrown, twelve hits allowed no walks and nine earned runs. Ryan Kristof, and Jacob Jones pitched in just game two while Thomas Cheplick pitched in both games.
