MUCKDOGS SCORE FIVE TO WALK IT OFF AGAINST ELMIRA

By Anthony La Bonté

BATAVIA, NY—The Batavia Muckdogs complete a late game comeback over the Elmira Pioneers at Dwyer Stadium to win 7-6, Saturday.

Entering the eighth inning the Pioneers led by four runs 6-2, with momentum to bring home Elmira’s first win against Batavia on the season, then in the bottom half walks, hit batsmen, and errors allowed the Muckdogs to score four runs and tie it up. Then in the bottom half of the ninth a hit batter, a pair of bunt singles and an error scored Batavia’s seventh run and gave them the win at home over Elmira once again.

Tobias Waldridge, in his first start on the year, pitched six innings, not having any runs earned against him while only having six baserunners. He would leave the contest during warmups for the seventh with an injury which had Sam Watts enter. Watts threw two with the lead being relinquished, and Lukas Rylander got pinned with the loss.

Jalyn Tidwell would hit another triple on the season while Jack Aylward hit a double. Nick Spaner was the only Pioneer to have a multi-hit day with a 2-5 performance.

The next game for the Pioneers is at home, Sunday July 12th for Free Hilliard Baseball Day. For ticket information call (607) 734-2690.
