Landen Burch’s Six Innings Pitched Helps Propel the Pioneers to .500
ELMIRA, NY— Landen Burch took his second start of the season, at Dunn Field, Saturday night, through six innings before the Elmira Pioneers would walk it off in the seventh inning, 11-1 against the Geneva Red Wings.
Within the start, Burch would strike out seven batters while only allowing one Red Wings player to cross the plate. Kannon Van Duzer would pitch a 1-2-3 top half of the seventh, striking out one batter.
Offensively there would be five extra base hits in the contest, including a Michael Gardner solo homerun in the seventh—the first home run at Dunn Field in 2026. Brandon Doubek would provide 3 RBI and Tyler Adamo went 3-4 with two runs.
The final run would be scored in the seventh with bases loaded that saw Geneva pitcher, Nathan Slaton, throw a pitch outside that passed the catcher and allowed Thomas Cheplick to cross home plate and close the game.
The next game for the Elmira Pioneers is a doubleheader in Niagara-Canada against the Niagara Ironbacks, Sunday, Jun. 7. The next home game for the Elmira Pioneers is against the Newark Pilots, Wednesday, Jun 10. For ticket information, contact (607) 734-2690.
