Elmira Welcomes Jamestown, Wins 3-2

The Pioneers returned to action on their home diamond at historic Dunn Field this afternoon riding high off a big 7-4 win over Oneonta to square off with the Jamestown Tarp Skunks for the first time in history.

Elmira tasked the start with the athletic and gifted freshman from Samford Logan Jones who finished his spring with a great 0.93 ERA and Jamestown rolled with struggling Mercyhurst freshman Ryan Rafalski.

The sides traded singles and walks over the first three innings, but it wasn't till the fourth when the offense began to appear. Luke Turner and Anthony Badala both came around to score on an RBI double from Kolbe Aven for Jamestown in the top half of the inning, and Elmira cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom half courtesy of an RBI groundout from Dom Popa to bring in Peter Theodorellis.

Elmira added two to the board in the bottom of the fifth via a loud 2 RBI double off the bat of Donovan Montgomery, driving in South Trimble and Ryess Youmans to push the score out to 3-2 in favor of Elmira.

Both bullpens held the opposition in tact and the 3-2 score held up as the Pioneers move their win streak along to three and their record to 3-1 on the young season.
