Elmira Pioneers Announce Two Pitchers Joining the Team

The Pioneers are proud to announce they have signed two Right Handed Pitchers out of Samford University. Carson Hobbs and Logan Jones will make their way from Birmingham, AL to Elmira, NY this summer and don the Pioneers cap.


Hobbs is a 6’0 197 pound freshman right handed pitcher from Alabaster, AL. Carson has one win and one save in 9.2 innings pitched at Samford while tallying 11 strikeouts in his first season after pitching at Thompson in high school and ranking in the top 500 prospects nationally. Hobbs has a fastball that tops out at 91 mph which puts him in the 95 percentile amongst pitchers in his year.


Jones is a 6’4 206 pound freshman right handed pitchers from Milton, GA. Logan has pitched 9 innings this year and only given up three hits and one run while tallying 11 strikeouts. Jones went to Milton high school and ranks in the top 500 prospects nationally. Jones has a fastball that tops out at 92 mph which puts him in the 96th percentile amongst pitchers in his year.


“We have had a good relationship with Samford for a number of years and with pitching being critical through the summer we are extremely pleased to add Carson and Logan to the roster. With such a tight schedule pitching becomes more important.” Coach Matt Burch said.
