Elmira Pioneers Announce Local Flavor Added To Team

The Pioneers are proud to announce that this year’s team will involve more local athletes. Joining the Pioneers this season will be Alex Bardo, Zac Granger, and Keegan Ernest.


Bardo is a 6’3, 220 lbs freshman at SUNY Cortland from Corning, NY. Alex was a three year starter for Corning-Painted Post in baseball and a two time all conference selection. He was awarded all-state honors as a senior.


Granger is a 6’2, 205 lbs sophomore at Lackawanna College from Horseheads, NY. Zac recently committed to University of Akron after finishing his second season. This season has been another strong one for Granger as he played in 36 games batting .387 with 7 home runs, 33 RBI’s, and 10 stolen bases. Zac was a three-year letter winner in the outfield for Horseheads HS where the team won the 2017 and 2015 sectional titles, he was also a two-time All-Southern Tier Athletic Conference honoree as well as a two-year letter winner in basketball.


Ernest is a 6’1, 205 lbs sophomore at Niagara College from Horseheads, NY. Keegan recently committed to Tusculum University to continue his playing career. After an impressive sophomore year in which Ernest appeared in six games as a starter going 4-2 averaging over 10 strikeouts a game, over 14 against the conference. In Keegan’s six starts he pitched complete games four times with shutouts in two of them.


“We are very fortunate to play in a market with a deep talent pool year in and year out. Alex, Zac, and Keegan are all products of this area and will all be a substantial part of this year’s program.” Coach Matt Burch said.
