Elmira Pioneers Add Two From UMass-Lowell Ahead of the 2019 Season

The Pioneers have continued to build their depth by adding two more players from UMass-Lowell, as outfielder Jeff Mejia and Drew Guldin have officially joined the Pioneers roster.


Mejia is a 5’10, 180 lbs sophomore outfielder from UMass Lowell by way of North Reading, MA. Jeff was a three-sport athlete at North Reading (football, track and baseball). Mejia was named to CAL All-League First Team after leading league in average, BP and walks. Jeff also was a Perfect Game Preseason All-American as a junior and sophomore and as a freshman, team was North Sectional Champs and he earned Fort Meyers All-Tournament Team honors. Mejia notched his first career collegiate hit against Binghamton University.


Guldin is a 5’11, 165lbs freshman pitcher from UMass Lowell by way of Manuta, NJ. Drew played baseball and basketball at Gloucester Catholic and was a senior captain, two-time state champion in his time there. During Guldin’s sophomore season, Drew was part of team that defeated top-ranked program in country.


“Jeff and Drew are both phenomenal athletes and will add depth to this team. As we pursue the championship that Elmira deserves we continue to add pieces that give us a real shot at making that a reality.” Matt Burch said.
