Early Offensive Drive Brings Pios to 9-1 Victory in Auburn

AUBURN, NY—Seven runs through the first four innings, alongside six innings pitched by Landen Burch drove the Elmira Pioneers, Tuesday night, to a statement victory over the Auburn Doubledays, 9-1 at Falcon Park.
The evening started with three straight walks by the Pioneers, in the first inning, then led to a wild pitch that scored Brett Baker from third base, and an RBI single by Ryan Gabianelli to start the scoring.
Joseph Williams (2-1), the Auburn pitcher, had entered the contest only having allowed two runs through eleven innings. Through his four innings of work, the Pioneers were able to pin seven runs against him.
Baker finished up his day getting on base four of the five times he went to the plate while racking up two RBI. Jalyn Tidwell was able to get another triple to his name going two for four on the day.
Burch (2-0) finished his evening throwing six innings, striking out four, and only allowing one run. Dropping Landon’s ERA to a staggeringly low 0.53. Then Kevin Prosceo took his first inning of the season striking out one and walking another. The final two innings were left for Kannon VanDuzer to clean up and get three punch outs.
