Elmira, N.Y. — The Elmira Pioneers are pleased to add three players from the University of Connecticut, two sophomores and one freshman.  Anthony Nucerino is a returning PGCBL All Star, Nate Panzer and Angus Mayock will be great additions.

Anthony Nucerino is a 5’ 10”, 207-pound, sophomore outfielder from Fayetteville, NY. Nucerino will be returning to the Pioneers for the 2018 summer. In high school he was a two-time All-league selection and a one time second team selection. Nucerino is projected to see a lot of time roaming the outfield this summer and will be batting near the top of the order. throws in the low 90’s and will step right in to play an important role in the Pioneers starting rotation.

Nate Panzer is a 5”11” 192 pound sophomore outfielder from Westport, Connecticut. Nate transferred from the University of Maryland to UConn this year, so because of the transfer rule he has to sit out this spring. Panzer was ranked the #1 outfielder in the state of Connecticut for the 2015 and 2016 years by the Perfect Game. Nate will be a very exciting player to watch this summer in a Pio’s uniform.

Angus Mayock is a 6’5”, 215-pound, freshman, right handed pitcher from Berwyn, PA. Mayock was an All-League and All Area selection both his junior and senior years. He was a 2017 Rawlings Perfect Game All American honorable mention selection. Angus is a big, hard throwing athlete who will play a key role on the Pio’s pitching staff.
