Grant Donahue named PGCBL Pitcher of the Week

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Elmira Pioneer’s right handed pitcher Grant Donahue (Virginia) has been named Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) pitcher of the week for the week ending on July 9th.


During the past week, Donahue compiled a perfect record of 2-0 in two games started for the Pioneers. On July 3rd, Donahue tossed five scoreless innings while punching out seven en route to the victory. Donahue followed up that start with five more shutout frames against the Newark Pilots on Sunday, July 9th while picking up four more strikeouts.


For the season, Donahue has pitched to a perfect record of 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA which ranks second in the PGCBL. In 25.2 innings pitched Donahue has punched out 28 hitters while walking just 14.


The Pioneers will be back home for a slew of weekend games starting on Thursday, July 13th, with Thirsty Thursday against the Jamestown Jammers at 7:05 p.m. which will feature $2 beer. Friday night’s game will have a free mini bat giveaway sponsored by Weiss Construction with the game starting at 7:05 against the Newark Pilots. Saturday will be a doubleheader with the Onondaga Flames which will have postgame fireworks on Chemung Canal Night. Sunday’s game will begin at 5:05 against the Utica Blue Sox and it is a Bobby K Funday Sunday with free Pionettes posters.
