Pioneers Add Three From Siena, Two From Canisius

Elmira, N.Y. The Elmira Pioneers are excited to announce the signings of five Division 1 players for the 2017 season. LHP Shane Barringer, OF Chris Davignon, OF/1B Jon Crimmin, will be joining the Pioneers from Siena, while RHP Alvin Vega and 3B Joe Preziuso will be coming from Canisius.

 

Barringer, a freshman LHP, is 6’3 and weighs 207-pounds. Originally from Saratoga Springs, New York, Barringer has made 7 appearances thus far this season for Siena. Last summer, Barringer pitched for the Saratoga Stampede, tossing 30 innings and striking out 32 batters.

 

Also coming from Siena, Chris Davignon is a freshman OF who stands in at 5’8 and 164-pounds. Hailing from Slate Hill, New York, Davignon was a three-time All-Section IX honoree and was a 2016 Third Team All-state selection. Davignon has started 32 games this Spring for Siena and has driven in 7 runs and scored 12 times.

 

The third and final roster addition coming from Siena is freshman Jon Crimmin. Crimmin is a 6’1, 211-pound 1B/OF from Worcester, Massachusetts. Crimmin hit .380 with 23 RBIs during the 2015 high school season. So far this season, Crimmin has played in 32 games for Siena, including 16 starts, and has hit one homerun and driven in four.

 

Coming from Canisius is 6’2, 200-pound sophomore RHP Alvin Vega. Vega, from Elizabeth, New Jersey, lettered four times in baseball while at Elizabeth High School. For Canisius this season, Vega has appeared in eight games, striking out eight in eight innings.

 

Following Vega from Canisius is 3B Joe Preziuso. A 6’0, 174-pound sophomore from Lancaster, New York, Preziuso has started 38 games this season for Canisius and has hit .229 with 15 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Preziuso was a member of the Pio’s last year and will be returning after hitting .268 and stealing 10 bags last summer. Prior to playing at Canisius, Preziuso was a four year starter for Lancaster High School and was named ECIC Division 1 First-Team All-Star in 2014.
