Elmira Falls At Home In Game Three, We Thank You Fans For A Wonderful Season
After shutting down the Utica Blue Sox in Game Two in Utica, New York, the Pioneers forced a Game Three back to Historic Dunn Field to see who would claim the West Division Championship. Winning the West Division Championship would allow Elmira to advance to the PGCBL championship which would be between the winner of the Amsterdam-Albany series in the East Division.
Utica would capitalize on a pair of Elmira errors to get the 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
The Pioneers scored in the bottom of the fifth after a sacrifice fly from Storm Wilson (Kentucky) and a RBI single from Rob Perteet (Samford) to take the lead 2-1.
The Blue Sox would tie it up at two runs apiece in the top of the seventh.
The Blue Sox would score three more runs in the eighth and ninth innings to seal the win against the Pioneers.
Unfortunately, the Pioneers could not rally in the ninth inning and eventually fell to the Utica Blue Sox. The Blue Sox would take the Postseason West Division Championship while Elmira ends the season as the regular season West Division Champions. Parker Caracci (Ole Miss) takes the loss for Elmira and Ryan Green (Niagara C.C.) receives the win.
Elmira ends the season with a 35-15 record which includes postseason play. The Pioneers would like to thank all of our great sponsors for supporting us this season, along with our season ticket holders and to all of our great Pioneers fans. GO PIO’s GO!!!
