ELMIRA, NY

The Playoff Bound First Place Elmira Pioneers looked to continue their success against the Jamestown Jammers.

The Pioneers again struck first after a RBI triple from Troy Dixon (Samford) and a RBI single from Rob Perteet (Samford) to give Elmira a 2-0 lead.

Perteet would single in another run on the very first pitch to bring the score 3-0 in the bottom of the third.

The Pioneers had their first ever donut race at Historic Dunn Field. Contestants were required to eat a dozen donuts, three at each base, in order to complete the race and win. Clubhouse Manager Ben Efros won as a representative of the Pioneers, defeating clubhouse manager Scott from the opposing Jamestown Jammers.

Perteet would stay hot at the plate plating another run with a double to the right side to bring the score 4-0.

After Nick Graham (Penn State) reached on a Jammer error and scored on a wild pitch, Perteets hot bat singled in Storm Wilson (Kentucky) to give Elmira a 6-0 lead at the end of the seventh.

The Jammers would rally for six runs in the eighth to tie the score at six.

Connor Burns (Samford) would quickly put the Pio’s back in the lead with a solo shot over the right field wall. After that, Jason Patnick (Manhattan) would score on a wild pitch and a RBI single from Dixon would put the score to 9-6.

Zack Helsel (Liberty U.) would notch the save in the ninth to secure Elmira’s eighth straight win. Parker Caracci (Ole Miss) would secure the win, striking out three batters while Jammer Trevor Simon (Ball State U.) takes the loss giving up three runs on four hits.

The Pioneers finish off Halls Home and Lumber Country Weekend tomorrow evening against the Utica Blue Sox. Tomorrow’s game is Bobby K. Sunday Funday along with a Multi Media Services Trading Card Giveaway for Set #1.
