Samford Duo Dixon And Burns Helps Pios Win, Defeat TrailBlazers 4-3
After a wild win last night, the Pioneers looked to build on that win against the Adirondack TrailBlazers.
Connor Burns (Samford) gave the Pioneers the lead with a RBI double down the third base line to bring in Blake Buckman (U. of Louisiana at Monroe).
The TrailBlazers would get one back in the top of third to tie it back up and two in the top of the fourth to take the lead 3-1.
The Pioneers would tie it again at 3 in the bottom of the fourth as Troy Dixon (Samford) singled in two runs on a bloop hit to center field.
Burns would get on base again after a leadoff single and then Ty Denzer (Kansas) came in for Burns to pinch run. Dixon would hit a single up the middle to bring Denzer all the way around to score.
Austin Hansen (Seattle University) came in for the save and struck out one TrailBlazer looking. After that, the next two batters lined out to Tyler Plantier (UC San Diego) and fouled out on a sliding catch at the backstop by catcher Phil Madonna (Siena).
Ethan Daily (U. of Louisiana at Monroe) receives the win pitching two innings of scoreless work striking out one batter. Jesse Slinger (Youngstown State U.) receives the loss pitching four and a third innings of relief striking out one batter giving up four hits, walked five batters and gave up one run.
