ELMIRA, NY

Another beautiful night at Historic Dunn Field for fireworks as the Elmira Pioneers took on the Victor RailRiders in a West Division Matchup in the PGCBL.

After the RailRiders got a run in the third, the Pioneers got a run right back as Rob Perteet (Samford) Doubled to the left center gap to bring in Troy Dixon (Samford).

The RailRiders would tack on another run in the fourth inning in order to take a 2-1 lead.

The Pioneers would jam pack the bases in the fifth, sending away Victor starter Eoin McAvinchey. Reliever Jake Casey would throw a wild pitch to bring in Troy Dixon again to score as the Pioneers tied it again at two.

The whole stadium rocked as Colin Johnston (Monroe CC) would intentionally walk two batters to load the bases in the ninth as Dixon reached on an error by the Victor second baseman. Blake Buckman (U. of Louisiana at Monroe) pinch ran for Dixon and the two intentional walks had ninety feet from the game winning run. Brian Kelly (Siena) blasted one in the infield to the right side as that would bring in Buckman and end the game 3-2 in favor of the Pioneers. The fireworks continued the chants of “Let’s Go Pios” as the night went on.

Colin Johnston earned the loss, giving up one run on one hit. Parker Caracci (Ole Miss) earned the victory striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Pioneers will be back at Historic Dunn Field tomorrow to continue the U.S.A. Homestand at Historic Dunn Field!
