Troy Dixon Awarded Player of The Week by the PGCBL
The Elmira Pioneers had are having a great start to the season and it has come with exciting news from the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL). Troy Dixon has just been awarded PGCBL’s player of the week.
His start to the 2016 season has been outstanding, batting a .353 batting average with seven RBI’s on six hits and two home runs on the season. He leads the league in both home runs and RBI’s at the start of the season.
His performance on field really showed in the Pioneers first game of the season in which Dixon lead the team to an 11-4 win against the Adirondack Trailblazers.
The Samford product appeared in 32 games this season for the Bulldogs and scored 13 runs. He drove in eight runs and had eight walks. Dixon becomes the second straight Elmira Pioneer to be named Player of the Week for the first week as eventual league MVP Christian Santisteban earned the honor last year.
Quote from Manager Matt Burch, “Troy is eager to get his at bats this summer. He has a plan to improve his offensive and defensive skills, and I am happy that his work ethic is paying dividends early in this summer season.”
The Elmira Pioneers next home game is an interleague matchup against the Syracuse Saltcats. Tickets from Sunday’s canceled game will be honored at this game.
