Pioneers Unable To Overcome Jumpstart From Jammers

Tuesday, June 28, 2016 | Categories:

After a short rest, the Pioneers were back at it again on the road to face the Jamestown Jammers at Diethrick Stadium.

The Jammers started out fast against the Pioneers, putting up five runs in the bottom of the first on six hits.

Lucas Denney (Seattle University) got the Pioneers on the board at the top of the third with an RBI double to deep right field to bring the score 5-1.

Lucas Denney hit a solo shot to start off the top of the eighth. It cleared Diethrick Stadium and a tree line over in right field. Ty Denzer (Kansas) grounded into a double play but would bring in Jason Patnick (Manhattan). The Pioneers would trail 5-3 after that sequence.

Unfortunately, that would be the final score as the Pioneers would fall 5-3.

Spencer Kulman (Wofford) received the loss for Elmira. Dylan King (Belmont) would be the winning pitcher for the Jammers and Cory Blessing (Ohio U.) brought in his fourth save of the season for Jamestown.

Also making pitching appearances for Elmira would be Danny Madden (St. Bonaventure) and Stephen Arnsten (Manhattan). Madden would pitch two innings of scoreless ball striking out one batter and Arnsten would throw one scorless inning also striking out one batter.
