The battle for first place in the PGCBL was on in Utica, NY as two of the best teams in the league went back and forth all game long.

The Pioneers first got on the board as Nick Graham (Penn State) started with an RBI double to bring in Brian “BK” Kelly (Siena) and Joe Preziuso (Canisius) in the second inning.

The Blue Sox responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to an Anthony Young (Andrew) single and a Mason Fessler (Willamete U.) double.

The Pioneers would tie it up in the top of the seventh as Balke Buckman (U. Louisiana at Monroe) would lead off with a single and Kyle Ruth (LIU Brooklyn) would bring Buckman in all the way from first with RBI single.

This grudge match of a game was back and forth however, the Blue Sox would walk off in the bottom of the ninth inning thanks Joe Spitaleri (LIU Post).

In a battle of two of the best teams in the West Division, Elmira would fall just short of 4-3.

Cody Thompson (Randolph-Macon) would receive the loss after giving up the unearned run. Ryan Green (Niagara CC) got the win pitching two innings of scoreless ball. Andrew Sipowicz (Canisius) pitched the no decision as he went five innings, gave up six hits, three runs and struck out three batters.
