Locals Madden And Cosgrove Have Career Days In Loss To Saltcats
In a night to remember, the Pioneers elected to give the start to Corning, NY native Danny Madden. They also gave Josh Cosgrove (Onondaga CC) the start behind the plate and the lead off spot. Cosgrove did not disappoint in his role in the exhibition matchup.
Cosgrove went two for four on the night with two singles and definitely sparked the Pioneer offense when he had to. However, the Pioneers could not capitalize on runners in scoring position as the Saltcat pitching staff used their defense to get out of trouble throughout the night.
No team could score until the eighth inning, when Anthony Galanoudis (Molloy College) hit a double to right center field to score two runs off of reliever Kyle Stuart (Samford).
Maxwell Bain (Northwood U.) got the win, being the pitcher of record when the Saltcats scored. Stuart would take the loss giving up the game winning runs. Danny Madden would get the no decision but would pitch a scoreless six innings of work giving up two hits, a walk and struck out six batters.
The Pioneers will face off against the Jamestown Jammers tomorrow, June 21st in PGCBL play. The game will feature Free Party Time Cowbells and it is Valu Home Centers Night. Also come celebrate Stitches Birthday Party!
