The Season So Far:

The Pioneers have been on the road for the first part of the 2016 season, with only two games at home in PGCBL play. Elmira has a 5-4 record, which included some amazing ninth inning walk off victories against opponents at home. On the road they have lost close games and won blow out games. Troy Dixon was named the PGCBL Player of the week in the very first week of the season. On the season, Dixon has a .270 batting average with 10 hits, eight runs batted in and two home runs.

The Elmira offense in general have been able to hit the ball at key moments which have lead them to victory. So far the leader at the bats has been Blake Buckman. In 18 at bats, he has nine hits on the season so far, which brings his batting average to an even .500. Other notable leaders on the offense include Brian Kelly, Joe Preziuso and Rob Perteet.

Elmira’s pitching staff and bullpen has been rock steady. Most notably, Andrew Sipowicz leads the staff in strikeouts with 15, has only walked three batters and has given up only three runs in 11 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parker Caracci leads the teams in wins as he is usually handed the ball later on in close ball games. Caracci so far has given up one hit, one earned run and has struck out seven batters in five innings pitched.
