Pioneers Walk Off Again in Pink in The Park Night
The Pioneers would be yet again victorious at home in walk off fashion. The Pioneers would do so at a night where the entire field was pinked out in order to "strike out" cancer in Pink in the Park Night. In a game of defensive miscues and key hits, Phil Madonna would lead the Pioneers to victory. He knocked in four runs and had three hits in five at bats in the victory including the walk off single.
The relief pitching was dominant in the late innings as Marc Galvan and Parker Caracci would throw a scoreless seventh, eighth and ninth inning to keep the game within reach at 6-5.
Back to back singles by Ty Denzer and Rob Perteet would put runners at first and second. Sacrifice bunt by Brian Kelly would move the runners over to second and third. Adirondack Pitcher Pat Geraghty intentionally walked Jason Patnick to load the bases. A Joe Preziuso Sac Fly would bring in a run and move Perteet 90 feet from the game winning score. Phil Madonna would come up to the plate and knock one over to right field to bring the games final score 7-6.
The starting pitcher was Taylor Ahearn who allowed five runs in five innings pitched, all unearned. Meanwhile, Parker Caracci was awarded the win with a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one batter. The losing pitcher was Pat Geraghty of Adirondack who allowed two runs off of three hits and one walk.
