Elmira, N.Y. – The Elmira Pioneers, along with Head Coach Matt Burch are pleased to announce the addition of two players from Old Dominion University for the upcoming 2016 PGCBL season. Freshman right-handed pitcher Drew Moyer joins redshirt sophomore infielder Grey Finwood in having the opportunity to call Historic Dunn Field home this summer.

Moyer, who calls Newport News, Va. home, is currently in his first season with the Monarchs. Prior to Old Dominion, he attended Woodside High School and finished his senior year 8-2 with a 1.90 ERA. He also was able to make an appearance in the 2015 Regional Tournament. Moyer has made one relief appearance so far this season for the Monarchs.

Head Coach Matt Burch said of Moyer, "Drew is another pitcher that is an opposing sight on the mound. He stands 6'7" tall and with the early inning shadows at Dunn Field, he will be tough to hit".

Finwood hails from Norfolk, Va., and is in the midst of his second season with ODU. The 6’3” righty is the son of Monarchs Head Coach Chris Finwood. Last season he appeared in eight games, all as either a pinch-hitter or defensive replacement. Before ODU, he attended nearby Maury High School, where he was regarded as a versatile infielder for the Commodores.

"Greyson will ensure depth at the corner infield positions. Sons of coaches typically have knowledge of the game that is a bit different; we look forward to Grey's baseball IQ having a positive impact on the diamond at Dunn Field this summer”, stated Head Coach Matt Burch.

The 2015 season had plenty of good moments for the Pioneers, including Collegiate Baseball best 23 straight home victories. The Pioneers followed up their strong play on the field to lead the PGCBL in attendance, averaging 3,000 fans per game. That tremendous turnout allowed the Pioneers to place second in overall average attendance of all Collegiate Baseball teams in the country.

The Elmira Pioneers will be hosting the second annual Hot Stove Dinner at the Hill Top Inn in Elmira, NY with special guest speaker, two-time World Series Champion, Jose Canseco. The event will be held on Thursday, April 21st and is presented by Hilliard and Elmira Business Institute.
