Former Elmira Pioneer and current Manhattan College senior Christian Santisteban has been voted the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year for the upcoming season by the league's 11 head coaches. A First Team All-MAAC selection as a sophomore, Santisteban hit .301 as a junior in 2015 with 53 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 28 RBI. "I'm not surprised by Christian's pre-season accolades. He has worked hard to put himself in a position for great success", said Pioneers head coach Matt Burch.

Santisteban was nothing shy of outstanding this past summer for the Pioneers as the first baseman was named the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Player of the Year. He led the league in hits (58), OBP (.532), slugging (.591), OPS (1.123) and walks (43) while ranking second in average (.377), second in runs batted in (38), third in home runs (6), third in runs (41) and sixth in doubles (11).

The Pioneers will play 30 home games at Historic Dunn Field in 2016 and fans will have plenty of chances to catch a game on a weekend, with a league-best 16 of the games being played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The 2016 regular season begins on Wednesday, June 4 and concludes on Sunday, July 31. Playoffs will begin on Monday, August 1 with a pair of winner-take-all contest.
