Cummings Named Pitcher of the Week for 2nd Time

Elmira starter Kyano Cummings has been named co-Pitcher of the Week for the week covering July 20 to July 26. Cummings, who attends the Siena College, pitched a complete game, one run start Thursday at Newark.

 

Cummings struck out eight batters, gave up just four hits and did not walk a batter in the 6-1 victory.With the great start, the left hander is now 5-1 with a 1.75 ERA, which is the third-lowest mark in the league. The Brewertown, New York native is two strikeouts away from tying the PGCBL record for strikeouts in a season (74).

 

At Siena this year, Cummings went 4-1 in 25 appearances. He posted a 3.94 ERA and struck out 42 batters in 48 innings pitched.

 

This is the lefty's second time being named PGCBL Pitcher of the Week. He also received the honor in week five.
