MOHAWK VALLEY, NY-The Elmira Pioneers earned their first win of the season against the Mohawk Valle DiamondDawgs 10-3. See the box score of the game here.

The Pioneers ripped 13 hits, four of which were hit by 2nd year player Christian Santisteban. Elmira got its scoring started in the 1st inning when Troy Squires lined a single to right field scoring left fielder Will Larue. In the third inning, Santisteban smashed a two run home run to centerfield of Mohawk Valley starter Ben Moxley.

The game broke open in the sixth inning when Santisteban, who plays at Manhattan College, ripped a two run single to put Elmira up six to one.

Santisteban ended the night with four hits, including the home run and a triple. The first baseman hammered home six runs.

Also driving in runs for the Pioneers were right fielder Dustin Hoiles, designated hitter Nick Graham, and third baseman Keegan Maronpot.

The Elmira pitching was also superb. Four pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts. Jared Proctor, from University of Kentucky, went four innings and struck out six batters. Ryan Bellomo, who struck out three in two innings of work, qualified for his first win of the summer.
