Dunn Field to Host High School Baseball Tournament

Elmira, NY- With the 125th season of baseball in the Twin Tiers quickly approaching, the Pioneers are keeping Dunn Field busy this season after leading the PGCBL in attendance and finishing 2nd in the country. The Pioneers in conjunction with area high schools are excited to announce their hosting a baseball tournament featuring 4 local teams (Thomas A. Edison, Notre Dame, Lansing and Towanda).
The tournament will consist of four games that will take place on April 27, 2013 with a rain date set for May 4, 2013. The festivities will start at 12:00 PM (Notre Dame vs. Towanda) and follow with Thomas A. Edison vs. Lansing at 2:30 PM. The consolation game will take place at 5:00 PM and culminate with the championship game under the lights of Historic Dunn Field at 7:30 PM.
Tickets for all ages can be purchased for $5.00 and the Dunn Field concession stand will be open to serve food throughout the tournament. The Pioneers ask that fans please refrain from bringing any outside food or beverages into the stadium.
All games will feature a 10 run mercy rule that will go into effect after the 5th inning along with a coin toss prior to each game to determine the home team. The tournament will also feature a speed up rule for pitchers and catchers when they reach base. Teams will be able to use any player that has yet to be legally entered into the game to run for the pitcher and/or catcher.
