Elmira, NY- The Elmira Pioneers are excited to announce the signing of Horseheads native Dylan Manwaring as the 125th season of baseball in the Twin Tiers inches closer. Manwaring is currently a senior at Horseheads High School and recently committed to play ball for head coach Tom Walter at Div. I Wake Forest.

The Horseheads native will bring a versatile flavor to the Pioneers roster while manning third base and the pitching mound. The right hander has participated in numerous Perfect Game events all over the country and has garnered 2013 Rawlings 3rd Team All-American and Northeast All Region 1st Team honors. “Dylan brings immediate credibility to the type of ballclub we aspire to create. His size, knowledge of the game, and baseball ability will help him become an impact player” stated Pioneers manager Matt Burch.

Manwaring, who stands 6’3” tall, “is not the typical high school baseball player in regards to talent or stature” according to Burch. Perfect Game has listed Manwaring as an interesting 2 way prospect that has a good bat to go along with a low 90’s fastball on the mound. The Demon Deacons finished last season with a 33-24 overall record and a 13-17 mark in the ACC. Manwaring looks to become part of a talented recruiting class that coach Walter has put together for the near future.

Manager Burch believes that Manwaring can transition his unique skills from the high school diamond to Dunn Field and beyond. “The Elmira Pioneers are fortunate to have homegrown talent. Dylan is a unique talent that will add diversity to our ballclub. He adds depth at third base and on the mound. With great high school coaching from Jeff Limoncelli and growing up in a baseball family, Dylan will acclimate to the college game quickly.”

The Pioneers are set to open up the 125th season of baseball at Dunn Field on June 3rd as the Newark Pilots pay a visit to Dunn Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm. Opening weekend at Dunn Field is set for June 7th and 8th as fans can stick around after the game both nights to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display! It’s not too late to become a part of the fun and entertainment that will take place at Dunn Field this summer.
