Elmira Pioneers right-hander Taylor Ahearn, a rising sophomore out of Siena, was rewarded for his excellent start to his Elmira tenure with the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Co-Pitcher of the Week award.

Ahearn proved that he was a big-game pitcher as a member of the Siena Saints, tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball as they clinched the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference championship. Ahearn has only solidified that reputation further in a Pioneers uniform. On Wednesday night against the Utica Brewers, Ahearn sent down the final 13 batters he faced on his way to a rain-shortened complete-game shutout. Ahearn has managed a streak of at least 10 batters in a row retired in each of his last three starts and now has a 1.29 ERA on the 2014 season. Congratulations to Ahearn, and he will hope to continue his strong pitching as the year progresses.

The Pioneers will be taking on those same Utica Brewers as part of their USA Homestand tonight at 7:05 PM. Gates will open at 6:00 and fans in attendance will receive Mini-Bats courtesy of Elm Chevrolet. For tickets, visit the Dunn Field Front Office or call 607-734-2690 for information.
