Bryson Hough Dominates in Pioneers’ Win Over Dutchmen at Dunn Field
Elmira, NY - Bryson Hough (Bucknell) saw his start begin in a rough way on Saturday night as he allowed one run on three hits. However, the Pioneers right-hander rolled in his final six innings, recording 18 straight out to end the game to lead Elmira (15-11) to a 10-8 win over the Albany Dutchmen (12-12).
Overall, Hough went 7 innings allowing only 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 9 while walking none. He was perfect after his own error to begin the top of the second inning, picking off Danny Hrbek to start the streak. Hough improved to 3-0 on the season with his win, and also ranks among the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League with a 1.20 ERA following the contest.
Hough was supported by an excellent Pioneers offensive effort that included a 6-run 3rd inning. On the game, Taylor Hillson (Mansfield) went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, and Christian Santisteban (Manhattan) also drove in 2 runs in the game. Nick Walker (Old Dominion), meanwhile, reached base 4 times, drove in 1 run, and scored twice. The Pioneers needed every run they could get to hold off a furious rally by the Dutchmen to end the game.
On Sunday, the Pioneers will finish off their USA Homestand with a game against the Newark Pilots at 5:05 PM.
