Elmira, NY – For the second straight time this season the Elmira Pioneers (16-12) welcomed in the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (16-8) for Dollar Dog Night at Dunn Field. The rain would get the upper hand once again as the first game of the doubleheader was suspended in the fourth inning of play with the DiamondDawgs leading 7-3.
With the first game being suspended and the second seven inning game being postponed due to field conditions, fans with tickets from Wednesday night can use them to come out and watch the Pioneers take on the Watertown Rams Friday, July 11th at 7:05 p.m. Gates will open to fans one hour prior to the games first pitch.
The suspended seven inning game between the Pioneers and DiamondDawgs will be completed as part of a doubleheader at Dunn Field the next time Mohawk Valley travels to the twin tiers on Wednesday, July 30th. The start time for the first game will be 5:05 p.m. with gates opening at 4:05 p.m. The second game which will start from the beginning will follow shortly after the completion of the first game.
Mohawk Valley will play host for the second game of the doubleheader that was cancelled as the DiamondDawgs are not scheduled to return to Dunn Field again during the 2014 regular season. Both games will consist of the standard seven innings and will be played on Friday, July 25th with the first game getting underway at 5:05 p.m. The Pioneers will be the visiting team for both games of the doubleheader in Little Falls, NY.
The Pioneers return home on Friday night after a two game road trip in Glens Falls. Elmira will take on the Watertown Rams at 7:05 p.m. as Texas Roadhouse will be handing out Cowboy Hats to fans to kick off Country Weekend at Dunn Field. Saturday night will feature the same two teams as fans will be treated to a free photo of the 2014 Elmira Pionettes. Gates will open one hour prior to both games and great seats are available! To join in on the fun and take in a game at Historic Dunn Field, visit the Pioneers office located at the ballpark to purchase tickets or give the staff a call with any questions at 607-734-2690.
