Pioneers Add UC-Davis Lefty to the Mix

Elmira, NY- The Elmira Pioneers are excited for the 125th season of baseball in the Twin Tiers and are bringing in UC-Davis pitcher Spencer Henderson. Henderson will suit up for the Pioneers this summer after finishing his freshman seasons for the Aggies.


Henderson, Born in Walnut Creek, Cal was a two sport standout at Acalanes HS, earning All-Diablo Foothill Athletic League honors in both baseball and football. A left handed pitcher, Henderson helped the ‘Dons to the NCS baseball title during his senior season going 3-1 on the mound with a 3.85 ERA.


This season for the Aggies Henderson has a 1-0 record on the mound and has made 12 appearances. He has thrown 29.2 innings and registered 18 strikeouts with 9 walks issued. Henderson has also seen time at the plate picking up 12 at bats and three base hits for a .250 average.


The Pioneers are set to open up the 125th season of baseball at Dunn Field on June 3rd as the Newark Pilots pay a visit to Dunn Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm. Opening weekend at Dunn Field is set for June 7th and 8th as fans can stick around after the game both nights to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display!
