Elmira N.Y. – June 6th, 2013

Your Elmira Pioneers gear up for their home opener this Friday against the Newark Pilots! The Pioneers had a strong start to their season as they traveled to Newark on Wednesday June 5th and shot down the Pilots in a marathon thirteen inning game behind the bats of Colby Gee (Ithaca) and Chris Knott (East Stroudsburg).

The Pioneers also played a Pre-Season game against the Pilots on Monday June 3rd in front of a staggering crowd of 3,021 fans. We can expect an even larger and louder crowd this weekend behind the home team.

Now (1-0) The Elmira Pioneers will begin their hopeful season at Dunn Field Friday and Saturday in a two game home stand. This is the MONUMENTAL 125th OPENING WEEKEND of baseball in the Twin Tiers come celebrate baseball and its rich history in Elmira with FIREWORKS, FIREWORKS, and MORE FIREWORKS immediately following both games.

Friday will be the second divisional rivalry game against the Newark Pilots, so be prepared for some excitement. Then, Saturday we’re right back at Dunn Field as the Pioneers take on the Albany Dutchmen for the first time this season.

Don’t forget, after each game there will be a FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA!
