Pioneers Lose at Home to Hawkeyes
Errors the Story of the Night for ElmiraWednesday, December 12, 2012 | Categories:
Elmira N.Y. June 15, 2013 –
It was a tough loss for the Elmira Pioneers at Dunn Field tonight as they fall 7-6. The Pioneers were riddled by errors as they lose a game that looked to be controlled until the later innings. Elmira out hit the Hawkeyes fourteen to ten, but an error filled night, fielding came back to haunt the Pioneers as they give this one away to the visiting Cooperstown Hawkeyes.
Tommy Alexander pitched six innings as the starter for your Elmira Pioneers striking out five Hawkeyes and only giving up two earned runs. The bats did enough to get Alexander the no decision, but unfortunately the bullpen could not protect the lead.
Come on out tomorrow as the Elmira Pioneers finish their home stand up on Father’s Day Friday June 16th. Don’t forget bring your glove and play catch on the field with your dad after the game. Come Celebrate 125 years of baseball in the Twin Tiers, first pitch 5:05 PM. For ticketing information call 734-2690 or visit www.elmirapioneers.com.
