Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Pioneers, proud members of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League along with Manager Matt Burch have added two position players to the roster for the 2014 season.

Derek Deler, a freshman at Florida International University hails from Orlando, Fla. where he attended Orangewood Christian High School. Deler, who is an infielder, will get a good chunk of playing time at shortstop for the FIU Panthers and Head Coach Turtle Thomas. The Panthers are currently ranked 19th in the nation and are members of Conference USA.

The 5'9" 170 lbs. infielder has appeared in three games thus far for FIU and chipping in offensively with 2 RBI. Deler's first collegiate hit was a home-run in his first at-bat against Florida Memorial. Pioneers Manager Matt Burch said of Deler, "Derek is a slick fielding shortstop that Pioneers fans will be excited to watch play. Deler's responsibilities will not be limited to his defensive prowess; Derek's savvy base running and his smooth right handed swing will be counted on to help to bring a championship to Elmira".

T.J. Dixon, a freshman at Samford University hails from Mobile, Ala. and will join his current teammate Hunter Swilling in Elmira this summer. Before committing to Samford, Dixon attended UMS-Wright Prep where he helped lead his team to back-to-back state championships in 2010 and 2011. The Bulldogs are members of the Southern Conference and are currently 11-5 on the season.

The 5'11 170 lbs. outfielder has appeared in all 16 games for the Bulldogs this season hitting .222 with 10 hits and two doubles. Dixon has also driven in four runners while swiping seven bases and drawing 12 walks. Manager Burch said of Dixon, "T.J.'s athleticism will be on full display at Dunn Field this summer. Dixon, who is just a freshman, is slated to play every day and create a dynamic threat on the base paths that is high energy and difficult to defend". .
